San Diego Unified’s newest elementary school is now open! Serving Mission Valley families and students in grades UTK-2 for the 2022/23 school year.
As the first elementary school in Mission Valley, Nipaquay opened its doors for the first time in August 2022, welcoming students in grades UTK-2 from the rapidly growing Civita neighborhood.
Nipaquay, pronounced "ni-puh-wai," was named after a native Kumeyaay village as a way to honor the Indigenous history of the San Diego region. The school will continue to add grade levels each year, growing to serve grades UTK-5 by the 2025-26 school year.
Nipaquay features state-of-the-art brand new classrooms, playgrounds, and is conveniently located right next to Civita Park, making it a great location for families.
