San Diego High School is one of the largest schools in the San Diego Unified School District and is a pillar of the San Diego community. It has been serving generations of students since its founding in 1882.

SDHS is an award-winning IB World School that boasts highly engaging and rigorous courses preparing students for the most elite universities with IB classes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English Literature, Spanish, French, Mathematics, History, Film, and Music. SDHS also offers multiple California Partnership Academies, including the Academy of Finance (Business Management), GeoTech (Green Engineering), and MedTech (Biotechnology/Patient Care), that provide vocational and careers-focused classes, mentorship, internships, field trips, and immersive learning experiences. Other career-focused pathways include:

  • Culinary Arts & Management, 
  • Design, Visual and Media, 
  • Broadcasting,
  • ITech: Games and Simulation Design.

 

Our wide range of VAPA and elective classes is further enhanced by our partnership with San Diego City College. College Faculty teach a range of college-level courses on our campus, providing both high school and college credit, including Dance, American Sign Language, Black Studies and Chicano Studies.

In addition to academic enrichment, SDHS offers a myriad of extracurricular opportunities for students, including excellent seasonal sports teams, ASB, Concert Bands, Choir, Color Guard, Drama, Orchestra, Yearbook, and a constantly growing list of school clubs which engage the interests of the student body.

We envision the students of San Diego High School becoming thriving, contributing members of their local and global communities by:
